In 2004, CWC’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System gained accreditation to
OHSAS 18001. The ethos of accredited standards – to continually improve – is wholeheartedly embraced by CWC.

We have developed a comprehensive health and safety related training programme that not only educates, but also has an impact on the culture of our organisation. Everyone within CWC – from the Managing Director to the administrative staff – receives tailored health and safety training on IOSH approved courses. We also extend this opportunity to our trade contractors, enabling them to take part in our courses as well as providing qualified trainers to run specific courses for their on site workforce.

These courses cover such areas as mobile tower erection, use of cherry pickers, angle grinders and hilti guns. Our site nurses are also trained as safety officers, in line with our belief that prevention is better than cure.

In conjunction with UCATT, our training centre for foreign workers has received a number of awards.

We are acutely aware that every project’s health and safety performance will only be as good the trade contractors selected. Which is why all of our contractors are rigorously pre-qualified and vetted. In every case, we foster a collaborative approach to promote a working culture where good health, safety management and performance are a shared and mutually beneficial aim. We recognise and reward contractors who contribute to good health and safety performance. At the completion of each project, awards are presented to those contractors who consistently contributed to the project's overall health and safety performance.
