to create Europe’s tallest residential development

9 March 2005 |
Since gaining planning permission for their 50 storey residential development at 1 Millharbour in London’s Docklands, Ballymore has announced the appointment of Canary Wharf Contractors Limited, as key members of their construction team.
The appointment combines Ballymore’s skill in delivering high quality mixed-use developments, with architects Skidmore Owings and Merrill’s strong pedigree in designing tall buildings, and Canary Wharf Contractors Limited’s expertise in high rise construction techniques.
The synergy between the three “Docklands development heavy weights” is expected to result in significant benefits in terms of design, speed and quality of construction.
The 736,000 sq ft scheme incorporates 700 apartments, a third of which will be affordable homes, a 5 star hotel, health spa, retail facilities and bars and restaurants in two interlinked towers on a waterside site just 500 metres from Canada Square.
The landmark development is designed to make a dramatic addition to London’s skyline and complement the existing buildings in and around Canary Wharf.
Construction is scheduled to commence in Autumn 2005, and complete in 2009.
